Electrical Fuse Panel Repair or Installation

Fuse Panels: Yes, there are still many out there. If you have a fuse panel chances are its old. Do you notice lights flickering sometimes or hear strange noises at the panel. Fuses are fine except when  people over fuse or if the panel has worn or loose parts. I’ve seen many fuse panels where someone has replaced a 15 amp fuse with a 20 or 30. A very bad and dangerous decision.

These circuits are designed for a specific amperage for a reason, which is to do with intended load and wire size. Anything above the recommended fuse size is a fire hazard not to mention could be an insurance issue if discovered as the cause of a fire. Sometimes over the years the connection point between the back of the fuse and the buss bar can become pitted or charred from improperly installed fuses. This can cause arcing or create a point of over heating which again is a safety and fire hazard.

I can check these potential issues for you and suggest ways to correct or replace. If a fuse keeps blowing then you may have short or overload conditions which may require a service call or the wiring of additional circuits.A move from fuses to a new breaker panel could be in order.
