Undercabinet Kitchen Lighting

Undercabinet Kitchen Lighting: A great feature that many homeowners want. Good task lighting and accent lights. There are many types available. Some you can plug into an existing receptacle while others you may want to hardwire. The low voltage type involve a transformer which can be mounted on the bottom of the cabinets or in the cabinets.

The thing I don’t like about these is that they produce a fair bit of heat. My personal choice are line voltage slimline fluorescent fixtures. They hide well behind cabinet valances and with the advent of electronic ballasts produce no heat, no noise and come on instantly. You can usually get a variety of colour of tubes to help accent your kitchen colours. Their amperage draw is usually so low that they can be drawn from an existing circuit.
